Preparation of Chloroform Water by Simple solution method
Aim
To prepare and submit 100 ml of Chloroform water by simple solution method.
Requirements
Chloroform, Purified Water, Glass pipette, Glass beaker, Measuring cylinder and glass bottle.
Principle
Chloroform is a colorless, heavy, non- irritating odor, volatile liquid and have sweet burning taste. It is non-inflammable liquid. Chloroform miscible with 100 parts of water (1 in 100).Chloroform water prepared by using simple solution method. Simply uniform mixing of chloroform and water gives chloroform water. Chloroform water used as a Pharmaceutical aid. It is used either in internal and external application.

Quantities of ingredients calculated by using following formula,
Procedure
1. Pipette out the calculated quantity of Chloroform and transfer into beaker.
2. Add sufficient quantity of water to make required quantity with constant stirring until to homogenous/ uniform mixing
3. Transfer into suitable container, cap and label.
Use
It has rubefacient action and is used as a counter-irritant in externally.
It is used as a solvent for fats, fixed and volatile oils.
Internally: It has agreeable taste and causes a sensation of warmth.
It is used as a carminative and as a flavoring agent in pharmaceutical formulations and other preparations..
Dose
15 - 30 ml.
Caution
Long term use of preparations containing chloroform may give rise to liver damage, especially in children.
Storage
Stored in air tight contained and kept away from light.
Report
The 100 ml of Chloroform water was prepared and submitted.
